(Perhaps in worship, prayer, fasting, conviction, or clarity.)
Synopsis of Message:
This Sunday marked a pause from starting the new Joshua series, because before “NEXT starts now,” God is calling us to the step in between:
Consecration.
Israel stood at the Jordan—between promise and possession.
- A promise (the land)
- A leader (Joshua)
- A Word from God
- A future ahead
But they had not yet crossed. They were in the in-between. Before they could receive the promise, Joshua says:
“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” — Joshua 3:5
Key Idea:
Between promise and possession, the condition of the heart matters more than the size of the obstacle.
What Consecration Is (and Isn’t)
Not:
- Trying harder
- Performing
- Being perfect
- Impressing God
Is:
- Setting yourself apart
- Returning to God
- Making room
- Saying, “God, I’m Yours.”
WHY Consecration?
Because:
- The promise is on the other side of obedience.
- The wonders belong to God, but the consecration belongs to us.
- You cannot cross on someone else’s consecration.
- God forms the person before He releases the promise.
WHAT Consecration Looks Like (3 Calls):
- A CALL TO REPENTANCE
Repentance is not shame—it is return.
“Repent… that times of refreshing may come” (Acts 3:19–20). - A CALL TO REMEMBER
Faith grows when we remember God’s faithfulness. (Joshua 4:2–7) - A CALL TO RELEASE (SURRENDER)
“Seek first the Kingdom” — Matthew 6:33.
Let go of control, habits, mindsets, fears.
This is where God is meeting His people in 2026—a Jubilee year, a consecrated year.
Discussion Questions:
- “Consecrate Yourselves” — What is God putting His finger on?
Joshua told each person to consecrate themselves—personally.
What area of your life is God asking you to set apart for Him again? - Between Promise & Possession
Where do you currently feel “in-between”?- A marriage being restored?
- A freedom journey?
- Provision?
- Purpose or calling?
How does consecration speak into that space?
- Repent, Remember, Release
Which of these three calls do you sense God inviting you into today? Why? - What Do You Need to Remember?
Joshua told Israel to set up stones of remembrance because remembering fuels faith.
What moment of God’s past faithfulness do you need to return to? - Consecration Beyond Sunday
How can you practically consecrate yourself on a Monday?
(Think: habits, priorities, prayer, relationships, purity, unity, Scripture, rhythms.)
Prayer Focus:
Pray for each person:
- A heart of consecration
- Courage to repent, remember, and release
- A fresh hunger for God’s presence
- Strength to obey in the in-between
- Faith for the wonders “God will do among us” (Joshua 3:5)
