Show Me Your Glory

Preacher: Pastor Daniel Erasmus

Worship Song Suggestion:
Spend a few moments in worship together. Select a song with a suggested theme of:

  • God’s Presence
  • Hunger for God
  • Seeking God’s Face

Encourage the group to begin by thanking God for who He is before bringing any requests to Him.

Check-In:
Take a few moments to connect as a group.

  • What has been one highlight and one challenge from your week?
  • What stood out to you most from Sunday’s message?

Key Scriptures:

  • Exodus 33:15-18
  • Exodus 33:19-23
  • Exodus 34:5-8
  • Psalm 27:8
  • John 1:14
  • John 17:22-23

Sermon Summary:
In Exodus 33, Moses makes one of the most profound prayers in Scripture: “Show me Your glory.” Even after experiencing God’s power, provision, miracles, and presence, Moses was not content to live off past encounters. He remained hungry to know God more.

The message highlighted the difference between seeking God’s hand and seeking God’s face.

God’s hand speaks of what He does:

  • His provision
  • His protection
  • His power
  • His breakthrough

God’s face speaks of who He is:

  • His presence
  • His character
  • His heart
  • A deeper relationship with Him

When Moses asked to see God’s glory, God revealed His goodness, mercy, compassion, and character. God’s glory is not only about what can be seen; it reveals who God is. Through Jesus, we have the clearest revelation of God’s glory. Because of the Holy Spirit living within us, we have the opportunity not only to experience God’s glory but also to reflect it to the world around us.

The invitation from the message was simple: bring your needs to God, but don’t stop there. Remain in His presence and allow your pursuit to move from “God, show me what You can do” to “God, show me who You are.”

Discussion Questions:

  1. Heart Posture
Moses had already experienced so much of God, yet he still prayed, “Show me Your glory.” What do you think helped Moses maintain that hunger for God, and what helps us remain hungry for Him rather than becoming comfortable or settled?
  2. His Hand or His Face?
The message spoke about the difference between seeking God’s hand and seeking God’s face. When you reflect on your own prayer life, do you find yourself spending more time asking God to do something for you, or seeking to know Him more deeply? Why do you think that is?
  3. One Next Step
The sermon invited us to move from: “God, show me what You can do” to “God, show me who You are.” What is one practical way you can intentionally seek God’s presence this week?

Prayer Pointers:
Pray together for:

  • A deeper hunger for God’s presence.
  • Hearts that seek God for who He is, not only for what He can do.
  • Greater awareness of the Holy Spirit’s presence in daily life.
  • Courage to remain in God’s presence even while waiting for answers to prayer.
  • God’s glory to be revealed through our lives so that others may see Jesus.

Group Application:
This week, set aside intentional time to simply be with God.
As you pray:

  • Bring your needs to Him.
  • Thank Him for who He is.
  • Spend a few moments listening and remaining in His presence.

Let Psalm 27:8 become your prayer:
“Come, seek my face.”
“Lord, I am seeking Your face.”
